“Hoosier Great Conversation Series”

Great Conversation | George Will | October 20, 2021

The Remnant Trust held a special celebration as we welcome the key holdings of The Remnant Trust “back home again in Indiana” with a spectacular evening at the Columbia Club, featuring national commentator George Will and a selection from the Remnant Trust: 1st Edition of The Federalist Papers, 1788; a Magna Carta, 1576; the oldest manuscript of Enoch I known to exist created ca. 1450 and authors presented in original form: John Locke, Nicollo Machiavelli and Thomas Paine, Plato, John Milton, and Cicero.

Will, the author of 14 books and a nationally syndicated columnist, is the perfect ambassador to welcome back the core holdings; the 1,500-volume atheneum of the wisdom of the ages, a collection focused on liberty and human dignity. He has been a life-long advocate for reading and reflecting on Enlightenment and American Founding authors such as Locke, Milton, Mill, Adam Smith, Burke, Jefferson, Adams and more.

Larry Reed is the President Emeritus of the Foundation for Economic Education as well as the past President of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy.

Both leaders are esteemed and highly-sought after commentators on the contemporary American scene and the role free markets, free speech and freedom of conscience play in nourishing the roots of liberty. As such they are exemplary thought-leaders to launch the Trust’s Indiana-centered Great Conversations series.
